Not just trailers!
We recently designed and built a 200-tonne hydraulic lift jack system for Ares Group. These four jacks each have a massive 50-tonne lift capacity and are made to lift wind turbine nacelles on and off trailers for transportation.
Using this jacking system allows Ares to self-load and unload the 130 tonne nacelles onto their heavy haulage platform trailers eliminating the need for high-capacity cranes at the port & also out on site, saving significant time and money!
The jacking system was also designed with a heavy-duty weight box tray that mounts to one of Ares prime movers, to transport the jacking system to & from site in one self-contained mobile unit.
The bonus: when the jacks are loaded onto the weight box tray, the prime mover can double as a push-pull truck for the platform trailer transporting the nacelle to site!

We’re excited to share that we’ve recently built the very first Folding A-Double for Rodwell Logging!
This purpose-built set will be used to cart pine from Bombala to Tumut (both NSW) for cardboard manufacturing. Thanks to its folding capability, the combination shortens for the return trip, making the journey safer and more efficient. This allows their drivers to take a faster route, saving 170 kilometres and around two hours of travel time.
Operating under PBS (Performance-Based Standards) regulations, the combination stretches to 30 metres when unfolded and has a gross weight capacity of 85.5 tonnes, with an impressive 57-tonne payload.
Garry headed up to Bombala to see it on its maiden voyage, and we’re pleased to report it has now been running successfully since the start of November.
Well done to Visy for their forward-thinking approach to transporting resources into their mill. And an equally big thank you to Mark and Peter Rodwell for giving us the opportunity to bring this trailer to life! It is always a pleasure working with the Rodwell team.

KT keeps the momentum rolling! We have just finished off delivering three brand new Sliding Chassis End Tippers to leading civil companies in the East Melbourne region. These tippers are built to handle the high demands of large-scale infastructure and earthmoving projects, offering unmatched versatility and efficiency on-site.
The sliding chassis extends to create a secure deck for plant equipment, allowing operators to transport both materials and machinery in a single trip. This capability saves times, reduces fleet requirements and increased efficiency on busy civil worksites.
From concept to completion, our in-house engineering team worked tirelessly to produce equipment that can thrive in challenging urban and suburban job environments.
We're proud to see Kennedy Trailers continuing to support Australia's infrastructure growith with smart, adaptable solutions.

KT takes Indonesia! We have entered into the Indonesian market, shipping over a brand new 2 Row 8 Low Boy Low Loader (120T) over to the team at Freeport Indonesia. This new model Low Boy is headed to the remote highland Grasberg Mine in the Mimika Regency, Central Papua, Indonesia.
The Grasberg mine (4,100 metres above sea level) is known for its massive gold and copper reserves. It is the world’s largest gold mine and the third largest copper mine.
We were engaged to develop a new Low Boy designed to withstand the twisting, pulling and pushing forces it will have to face when carting the plant machinery up the harsh terrain of the mine. This design process took around 12 months in conjunction with the operation team onsite.
Can't wait to see some updates from the mine site!

Since 2023, we have been Pilbara Side Tipper's preferred trailer manufacturer and currently have three more side tippers and a dolly in the works. Pilbara Side Tippers (ran by Will Spencer) transports iron ore, sands, road aggregates, facing rocks etc.
Will Spencer operates his business in the Pilbara region of northern Western Australia, over 1,000 kilometres from Perth. The Pilbara region covers a whopping area of 502,000 square kilometres, stretching from the Western coastline all the way to the border of the Northern Territory.
The Pilbara is characterised by very extreme heat in the summertime with quite mild winters. The temperature during the warmer months, (November to April) often exceeds 35°C, sometimes reaching over 40°C, making it a very difficult place to work. The highest recorded temperature in the Pilbara is 50.7°C!
Will says the most challenging part of operating in the Pilbara region is undoubtedly the harsh conditions. The roads are poorly maintained with numerous corrugations. The conditions are very dusty which adds wear and tear as the fine dust gets into everything. The rough terrain along with the blistering conditions means it is crucial to have a strong trailer to withstand the elements. Lucky, we build just that!
Will’s favourite features of our side tippers are the durability, high
strength and the fact that they are custom-made and easy to change to suit his preferences.
Some features of Will’s tippers are:

This was a very exciting project, being a brand-new trailer design and the first time that transformers have been moved this way in Australia on a platform load deck!
This trailer is a M500 platform module which is made up of 4 separate modules. It has a 200-tonne rated load deck and the trailer itself ended up being 38 metres long! It weighed in around 94 tonnes tare, and the gross combination mass was 312 tonnes.
In September 2024, it made its way from our factory in Bairnsdale, down to Wilson Transformer’s in Melbourne where it collected its 167-tonne super load (power transformer) before beginning its maiden voyage all the way up to sunny Queensland.
The long and complex journey from Glen Waverley to Stanwell QLD (near Rockhampton) was over 2,500km and it took two and half weeks! The full load, including the three trucks, was around 72 metres long combined.
After its first successful trip late last year, the beast returned for a
rejig. The platform was serviced and re-configured for its second huge trip. This time, it was headed all the way across the Nullabor to the West after picking up its Wilson Transformer Company's 180T power transformer.

After the 2019/2020 bushfire our good friends over at Rodwell Logging recognised the importance of preventing our community from other potential fires. They soon developed the idea of a Bulk Water Tanker that can be attached to the back of a Komatsu Forwarder.
We built the first fire suppression water tanker back in 2020. Since then we have built a further two and have more lined up for manufacturing. Throughout the last four years we have continuously worked alongside the Rodwell crew to develop these tankers to their fullest potential and to meet our customers needs.
They have a high performance fire fighting pump set and tornado canon that is all controlled by an in-cab wireless remote, preventing the need for the operator to exit the cab. It's ability to cart 19,000lts of water means it can cover most of the harshest terrains.
The water tankers have been recognised by departments as a future protection assest having demonstrated its fire suppression ability in multiples fires from early 2021.

Kennedy Trailers had recently been given another exciting opportunity of creating a first in Australian history.
Partnering up with the team at Acciona, Kennedy Trailers designed and manufactured two 10 row 8 platforms to haul wind turbine blades in the Macintyre wind farm using a blade lifter attachment.

Our team here at KT were lucky enough to be apart of Forestry Corporation of New South Wales project to deliver saw logs by rail to bushfire-impacted sawmills in the snowy regions.
Sawmill companies in Tumut and Tumbarumba faced a large loss of supply when the 2020 bushfires struck. With a loss of supply these companies faced the dilemma of having to cut labour hours effecting the local community.
Forestry Corporation NSW will be delivering 270,000 tonnes of logs by rail to these effected sawmills over a three year period. Using rails is a more environmentally friendly approach as this method of transport will save up to three million litres of diesel, plus it minimises the impact on the road network.
All together, we manufactured a total of 320 rail bolsters that were fitted onto container flats to transport the logs.
We are committed in supporting our Australian economy and are proud to be apart of this project that helps keeps local jobs open. Well done to everyone involved.
